DESCRIPTION:  \n\n2024国际佛教当代关怀研讨会 International Contemporary Buddhist Seminar 2024 | 07-08.12.2024 | 吉隆坡孝恩馆 Xiao En Centre (KL)\n\n\n讲师阵容: 议题《四》佛教的突破\nSpeaker Lineup: Topic 4 – Breakthroughs of Buddhism\n\n\n1） 释惟善法师 Venerable Shi Weishan\n\n\n惟善法师现任中国人民大学佛教与宗教学理论研究所副教授及中国人民大学区域国别研究院高级研究员。他于1997年至2005年留学斯里兰卡凯拉尼亚大学，分别获得巴利语与佛教研究硕士和博士学位。\n\n\n自2006年9月起，惟善法师在中国人民大学任教，并曾在2012年8月至2013年8月期间于美国华盛顿大学担任访问学者，2019年3月至9月期间于香港大学担任访问学者。他的研究和教学领域主要集中于早期佛教、阿毗达磨佛教、上座部佛教及佛教梵文等。\n\n\n自2004年起，惟善法师在多个国内外重要学术期刊上发表论文和译文50余篇，期刊包括《佛学研究》《世界宗教研究》《宗教学研究》《法音》及国际期刊如《Journal of Buddhist Studies》《Indian International Journal of Buddhist Studies》等。其代表作包括《说一切有部之禅定论研究—以梵文<俱舍论>及其梵汉注释为基础》，以及译著《梵文佛典导读：基础语法指南》。\n\n\nVenerable Weishan is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Buddhism and Religious Studies\, Renmin University of China\, and a Senior Research Fellow at the university’s Institute of Regional and Country Studies. From 1997 to 2005\, he studied at the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka\, earning both a Master’s and a Doctoral degree in Pali and Buddhist Studies.\n\n\nSince September 2006\, Venerable Weishan has been teaching at Renmin University. He also served as a visiting scholar at the University of Washington from August 2012 to August 2013\, and at the University of Hong Kong from March to September 2019. His research and teaching focus on Early Buddhism\, Abhidharma Buddhism\, Theravada Buddhism\, and Buddhist Sanskrit.\n\n\nSince 2004\, Venerable Weishan has published over 50 papers and translations in key academic journals both domestically and internationally\, including Buddhist Studies\, Studies in World Religions\, Religious Studies\, The Voice of Dharma\, and international journals such as Journal of Buddhist Studies and Indian International Journal of Buddhist Studies. His major works include and Dhyana-samapatti in sarvastivada abhidharma\, and the translation Reading Buddhist Sanskrit Texts: An Elementary Grammatical Guide.\n\n\n2）魏德东教授 Prof. Wei Dedong\n\n\n魏教授现任中国人民大学哲学院教授、国际佛学研究中心主任，同时担任中国生命关怀协会公益文化促进（心性关怀）专业委员会主任委员。他曾在纽约哥伦比亚大学东亚语言与文化系担任客座研究员（2016-2019），并于美国贝勒大学宗教研究所完成博士后研究（2007-2008）。他的研究领域包括佛教学与宗教社会学。\n\n\n魏德东教授以中文与英文发表了多部重要著作与学术论文，涵盖佛教哲学及宗教社会学等主题。其代表性著作包括《佛教唯识哲学要义》、三卷本《魏德东的宗教评论》及《佛教的生态观》。他也在国际学术界发表论文，如“Religious Involvement and Depression”和“Animal Release Rituals in New York City”。此外，他主编了多部学术丛书，包括“Sociology of Religion: a Rodney Stark Reader”、“Sociology of Religion: a David Martin Reader”、《国际佛学论丛》、《佛学译丛》及《宗教社会学大师译丛》。\n\n\n魏德东教授的学术兴趣广泛，曾考察、调研超过30个国家与地区，覆盖美洲、亚洲、欧洲及南极洲，重点关注宗教、社会与自然发展的交互影响。\n\n\nProfessor Wei Dedong is a Professor at the School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China and the Director of the International Buddhist Studies Center. From 2016 to 2019\, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures of Columbia University\, and from 2007 to 2008\, he completed postdoctoral research at the Institute for Studies of Religion at Baylor University in the United States. His research areas include Buddhist studies and the sociology of religion.\n\n\nProfessor Wei has published several significant books and academic papers in both Chinese and English\, covering topics in Buddhist philosophy and religious sociology. He has also published papers in international academic circles\, such as “Religious Involvement and Depression” and “Animal Release Rituals in New York City.” Additionally\, he has edited several academic collections\, including Sociology of Religion: A Rodney Stark Reader\, Sociology of Religion: A David Martin Reader etc.\n\n\nProfessor Wei’s academic interests are broad\, having conducted research and field studies in over 30 countries and regions\, spanning the Americas\, Asia\, Europe\, and Antarctica\, with a focus on the interactions between religion\, society\, and natural development.\n\n\n3）沈明信居士 Bro. He is also the Secretary of the Grand Buddha Temple of GuangZhou\, overseeing the temple’s Life Education Training program.\n\n\n2) 邓伟仁博士 Dr. Wei jen Teng\n邓伟仁教授现任法鼓文理学院佛教学系系主任。毕业于斯里兰卡Kelaniya大学巴利文佛教学系（学士）、印度普那大学梵语系（硕士）、芝加哥大学神学院（硕士）以及哈佛大学宗教学（博士）。邓伟仁研究领域包括佛教心识与禅修理论、中国佛教史、巴利语、梵语佛典、佛教与当代社会相关议题。\nWeijen Teng is currently the Head of the Department of Buddhist Studies at Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Pali Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka\, a Master’s degree in Sanskrit from the Savitribai Phule Pune University in India\, a Master’s degree from the Divinity School of the University of Chicago\, and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Harvard University. His research areas include Buddhist consciousness and meditation theory\, the history of Chinese Buddhism\, Pali\, Sanskrit Buddhist scriptures\, and issues related to Buddhism and contemporary society.\n\n\n3）梁秋梅硕士Sis. Leong Chew Moi\n梁秋梅居士是马来亚大学中文研究硕士，同时也是一名大学讲师。\nSis. DESCRIPTION:2024国际佛教当代关怀研讨会 | International Contemporary Buddhist Seminar 2024 | 07-08.12.2024 | 吉隆坡孝恩馆 Xiao En Centre (KL)本次研讨会的主题讲师是演观法师。他是现任台湾南山放生寺住持，在佛教界有着深厚的影响力与崇高的声望。演观法师积极推动慈善与教育事业，创办了南山长青学苑，致力于佛学研究和长者关怀，深受社会各界的尊敬与支持。此外，演观法师还担任台湾造福园乐龄照护推广协会理事长，专注于推动老年人福利和照护服务。同时，他也是财团法人根满文教基金会的董事长以及兹摩达司社会企业有限公司创办人。演观法师多重身份的交织，充分展现了佛教在当今社会中的发展趋势，也深刻反映了佛教在应对现代全球化格局下所发挥的重要功能。演观法师的发言将深入探讨佛教如何顺应时代的变迁，在全球化、科技进步和社会复杂性不断增强的背景下，继续超越宗教的局限，发挥其独特的社会作用。为佛教在新时代趋势与全球化格局下寻求全新的定位。The keynote speaker for this seminar is Venerable Yan Guan\, the current abbot of the Nanshan FangShen Temple in Taiwan. He holds deep influence and high prestige within the Buddhist community.Venerable Yan Guan actively promotes charitable and educational initiatives. He founded the Nanshan Youth\, dedicated to Buddhist studies and elder care\, and is highly respected and supported by various sectors of society. In addition\, VenerableYan Guan actively serves as the chairman of the Bodhi Care Association\, focusing on promoting welfare and care services for the elderly. He is also the chairman of an Educational Foundation and the founder of an Entrepreneurs Company.The intertwining of Venerable Yan Guan’s multiple identities not only showcases the development trends of Buddhism in contemporary society but also profoundly reflects the important functions Buddhism plays in addressing the challenges of the modern globalized landscape.In his speech\, Venerable Yan Guan will delve into how Buddhism can adapt to the changes of the times\, continuing to transcend the limitations of religion and exert its unique social role in the context of increasing globalization\, technological advancement\, and societal complexity.
