27th YBAM Induction Training | Chempaka Buddhist Lodge | 29-30.07.2023
Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) organized an Induction Training which is held once every term at is member organisation Chempaka Buddhist Lodge on 29 and 30 July 2023. There was a total of about 80 participants from the National Council (NC), committee members from 13 state liaison committees (SLCs) and 10 standing committees (SCs) all over the nation. In addition to allowing participants to understand the mission, structure, administrative and financial procedures of the YBAM, the Induction Training also provides a platform for new committee members to know each other and understand the past, present, and future of this organisation.
In the schedule of this two-day-one-night Induction Training, the sessions held included ‘Organisational Structure and Core-values of YBAM’ shared by YBAM President Bro. Yong Kuei Yoong, ‘Organisational Structure of YBAM Secretariat and Administrative Procedure Workshop’ shared by General Secretary Bro. Eow Shiang Yen, ‘Roles and Responsibility of NC, SLC and SC’ shared by Vice President Bro. Tay Boom Seng, ‘Financial Management Workshop’ shared by Treasurer Sis. Ng Hui Chen, and ‘8th Six-year Plan Implementation and Involvement’ shared by Deputy President Bro. Tan Chan Sin. These sessions are coherent and help participants understand the organisation’s values, meaning, direction, procedures, and coordination among various elements. On the first night, YBAM celebrated its 53rd anniversary, also known as YBAM Day. Participants watched YBAM documentaries and participated in mini-games and board games. The whole process was carried out in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
On the second day, YBAM Religious Patron Ven. B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera witnessed the Pledge of 27th National Council led by the YBAM President Bro. Yong Kuei Yoong. In his teaching, Ven. urged the young people to seize the prime time when they were young, full of energy and vitality, to serve their respective positions with passion and perform wholesome deeds. Afterwards, in the session ‘The Altitude of Office-bearers of YBAM’ moderated by YBAM President Bro. Yong Kuei Yoong, YBAM Lay Advisors Bro. Leong Kok Hing and Bro. Goh Tay Hock shared with the participants the spirit of YBAM and the evolution since its establishment and encouraged participants to respect traditional spirit while adapting to the modern era during the period of undertaking. The two Lay Advisors also reminded YBAM office bearers to face different causes and conditions of people and affairs and the challenges of different times with forward-looking and brave thinking. Only in this way can YBAM continue to create a better future as an organisation.
