Back in August 1981, 14 YBAM Exco Members, including the then YBAM President Tan Gin Soon and the then General Secretary Leong Kok Hing, visited the Kuching Tze Yin Buddhist Orthodox Association and conducted the Sarawak Buddhist Youth Leadership Seminar. A visit to various Buddhist organisations was carried out during the period revealed that there was a need to form a local state liaison committee to carry out the organisation’s objectives with ease and in a systematic way.

Not long after the seminar, a conference was held and 3 delegates each from Sarawak Buddhist Association Youth Group, Kuching Buddhist Society Youth Group, Kuching Tze Yin Buddhist Orthodox Association, and Persatuan Kuching Meditasi participated and witnessed the formation of the Sarawak State Liaison Committee. As of now, there are a total of 26 Member Organisations under its umbrella.

Due to the challenging terrain in Sarawak, the SLC often faced unprecedented obstacles in discharging their duties. As a mitigation step, Sarawak SLC has divided itself into subregions.

Below is the list of the 3 regions:
Southern Region: Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong
Central Region: Saratok, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Dalat
Nothern Region: Bintulu, Miri, Limbang, Lawas, Marudi, Long Lama, Batu Niah

This event is co-organised by Kuching and Samarahan Secondary School Buddhist Society Coordination Committees and has been ongoing since 1991. The event showcases talented secondary school Buddhist society students within the region in stage performances. The performances include sign language dance, drama, dances, and combined talent performances.
