Day 1 of YBAM Study Tour to Pakistan 2023 | KLIA Terminal 1 & Islamabad, Pakistan | 02.11.2023
The YBAM Study Tour to Pakistan, with a total of six delegates, set off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 under the leadership of National Council member cum Tour Leader Bro. Lim Kean Boon to embark on an eight-day and seven-night journey in Pakistan. In addition to tracing the history of relics of Gandhara, this study group will also observe how this country where 96% of the population is Muslim has shown a high degree of tolerance and professionalism in the study and preservation of Buddhist cultural heritages, with the hope that the participants would learn from the experience of other country to contribute to the development of local Buddhism. The places visited by the study group include Islamabad, Taxila, Swat, Peshawar, etc. It is worth mentioning that the two delegates of this study group are postgraduate students recommended by the Centre for Global Archaeological Research, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
The study group was received warmly by the President Fasih-Un-Nisa, Trustee Dr Ijlal Hussain and others from the Silkroad Centre, which is the co-organiser of the tour, upon their arrival at the Islamabad International Airport.
